Ban on Yoga Pants? What The F@#!

Late last year Montana legislature tried to pass a bill to ban yoga pants!  Rep. David Moore’s proposal would tighten indecent exposure laws to include any nipple exposure—including men’s—and any clothing that “gives the appearance or simulates” a person’s buttocks, genitals, pelvic area or female nipple, the Associated Press reports. Can you imagine?!  I live in California where practically every female wears yoga pants daily, both in and outside of the gym.  It’s practically our uniform!

In February, members of the House Judiciary Committee voted unanimously to table the bill “amid giggles.”

Moore isn’t the first person to spark a media firestorm with comments about yoga pants.

In 2013, Lululemon co-founder Chip Wilson apologized after saying “some women’s bodies just don’t actually work” for his company’s yoga pants after a batch of too-sheer Lululemon garments had to be recalled. A month later, Wilson resigned..  But lets discuss

In most states, wearing fitness gear isn’t just for the health club anymore.  We see it being worn in the office paired with boots and a cute sweater, at the coffee shop and grocery stores.  Workout wear is now more trendy and versatile to go from the gym to just about anywhere.  (except to Montana)  🙂

Studies show that if you like what your wear for a workout you will

  • Workout better, faster, harder because you feel good about what you are wearing

  • Tend to actually go to the gym if you are already wearing the clothes.  Less procrastination if all you have to do is take off your boots and put your sneakers on!
