Susan has officially hit 20 sessions and she definitely sees and feels the difference!  Not only does she see it, but so do others!  Way to go Susan!  As today’s inspiration says, “Get it Girl!”

Here is a video of Susan doing an awesome Teaser on the Reformer!

We have now completed week 7. I say “we” because it is a joint effort.  I show up and Heather makes me work harder than I would on my own.  She has the knowledge and creativity and I give it my best shot.

I continue to make progress and I continue to enjoy our workouts.  I notice improvements in little ways.  My flexibility has improved.  I don’t bend my knees when I reach to pick the basketball up from the court floor when shooting around with my son.  My stomach is tauter and my legs are firmer.  My wardrobe is expanding because I’ve been able to put some pants back into rotation that had been too tight.   Again, I am not skinny; I have extra weight.  But I am growing stronger and more toned.

This week Heather started me out in the 1st private lesson with the jump board.  I like the jump board.  It’s fun.  It becomes less fun after 200 jumps or so.  We kept on going and going.  My legs were spent.  They were tired for the remainder of the day.  I walked around as though I’d aged 30 years.  The funny thing is I liked it.  I like being reminded that my muscles are working hard.  I also got an arm workout on the reformer, extending my arms and pushing away with my hands on the footbar.  I carry stress in my neck and shoulders and it felt good to work some of that out by working my arms and shoulders hard.  We couldn’t ignore my biceps and triceps so I turned around and pulled against the straps.

Heather worked us hard in the Sunflower class too.  She had us transition to the next exercises more quickly.  The exercise that really got me was rond de jambe.  Kneeling, we put the strap around our foot and pushed out laterally, circling our leg.  This was very hard for me and I felt it burn immediately.  We also reached down from a standing position and walked our hands out to a plank.  We then piked up using our core to pull our legs in further.

Guess what we started with in our 2nd private of the week?  The bend, walk out on your hands, pike and back up exercise.  I’m not particularly good at it.  We also did circuit training, with an abs series on the Cadillac, then a bicep series on the equipment and a tricep series on the equipment.  I often think I could add additional weight or resistance until I get to the 7th or 8th rep when I realize the weight is more than sufficient.  I’ve gotten to the point where I can choose the most difficult of the options Heather offers, but there’s no need to make it even harder.

I’ve scheduled my remaining sessions with Heather.  She doesn’t appear to be tired of me yet, so it appears we’ll make it the full 10 weeks.  Thanks for joining me for this journey.
