Bending Over Backwards – Literally!

My Tuesday 9:30am Reformer Class Rocks!  These ladies are one dedicated bunch!  They are consistent and enthusiastic and ready to learn in every class!  They are a joy to teach!  We have been working on extension exercises for the past few weeks.  We’ve introduced backbends on the wall and most recently tried a full backbend from the floor.  In order to get to this point, we spend most of the hour doing exercises to help hand flexion, tricep stretches and strengthening exercises to be able to push from the floor.  We work on thoracic extension exercises to get the back ready to bend even more in a backbend and then we stretch the quads and hip flexors so that the front of the body is ready to be stretched out in the backbend position.  By the end of the hour we begin the backbends.  The ladies are successful because of all the prep we have done prior to this.  I’m so proud of how far they have come in this exercise and I can see their confidence build each week.  I think we all get excited for class on Tuesday!  At least I hope so, I know I do!   Here are some photos and short videos of this awesome bunch!
