Post Superbowl Blues – Try This Today

Over indulge yesterday?  Eat and/or drink too much!  Don’t beat yourself up about it today, it was fun right?  Hanging with friends and family, friendly wagers on the game, an awesome halftime show!  Enjoy the memories but also start the week off right.  Here are a few things you can do today to feel better and get back on track.

1.  Move!  Whatever you do today, make sure you move!  Take a walk, go for a hike, get 20-30 minutes of cardio exercise in of any kind.  Keep a brisk to moderate pace in whatever you choose to do.

2.  Drink lots of water!  8-10 glasses to counter the booze and salty foods of yesterday!  Carry a water bottle around with you and Sip, Sip, Sip….all day long!

3.  Try to stay away from caffeine or limit your intake today.  This will prevent a crash later when you come down from the caffeine “high.”  Can’t stay away from coffee?  Drink decaf!  Today is a good day to try Green Tea.

4.  Eat clean today.  Meaning try to stay away from processed foods as much as possible.  Eat salads, drink a smoothie, eat grains like quinoa and make sure to add some protein like chicken or fish to your diet today.  Keep it simple.  Do not starve yourself to counter the calories of yesterday!

5.  Take a Pilates or Yoga class.  In addition to #1 which is to Move, also see if you can fit in a yoga or pilates class.  The stretching and lengthening of these two formats will make you feel great!  Your body will thank you too!  Can’t fit it in?  Take a few minutes to stretch your body.

Remember, it doesn’t have to be a Herculean effort to make a difference!  Just start doing something and take small steps.  All 5 of these are easily do-able today.
