Workout Wednesday – Planks

Here is your workout for this Wednesday!  It’s planking!  Planking is a full body workout that utilizes all the muscles in your body.  It tones your arms and abs.  It works on your hamstring flexibility, your spinal flexibility.  It’s a great exercise to incorporate in your workouts when you don’t have a lot of time, as it gives you more bang for your buck, so to speak.  This segment flows from standing to planking to add a little extra movement and to get the heart rate up a bit.  Here’s the scoop:

Plank #1 – Do 10 pelvic tucks

Plank #2 – Do 10 knee taps

Plank #3 – Do 10 knee pulls

Repeat this whole series 3 times!

Tips:

Stay in a neutral spine unless you are doing the pelvic tuck portion.

Stay zipped in your abdominals

If you are feeling pain in your low back, then draw your abdominals in more and do a slight tilt under of your tailbone. Modify the exercise by just holding a plank with good form and no choreography.
