Monday Mat – Stomach Series

Welcome to Monday Mat!  Stomach Series is the topic today!

Series of 5 or Stomach Series is 5 Pilates Exercises done quickly, in a row, without a break.  Talk about a killer abdominal workout!!!  Do this correctly every other day and you should see an improvement in your abdominal strength and have a healthier back and core.  Here’s the problem though….

  1.  We tend to move too quickly with the exercises and focus more on moving our limbs then we do on holding our abdominals in.
  2. Our neck gets tired but we push on and then it becomes a neck exercise….a pain in the neck exercise!
  3. When we do use our stomachs we forget about having strong limbs (arms and legs) and have what I call “spaghetti” limbs.

That being said, it is still worth doing and worth doing correctly!  I’ve broken down the exercises one by one and given you some tips to be more successful.  Perform each exercise correctly and with good form until you can’t, then stop!  Don’t push on, you’ll get there eventually.

Do 8-10 repetitions of each exercise.  Take breaks as needed and then when you are ready, increase the tempo and try to keep your head up and stay in your abdominal curl the whole time.
