Pelvic Floor Workshop – Part 2 of 3 – Hypotonicity

Hypotonic Pelvis.  Hypotonicity in the pelvic floor means loose, stretched out muscles in need of strengthening.

Think, just had a baby, obesity, or just plain deconditioned.

Pilates is a great way to strengthen these muscles because there is so much focus already on the pelvic floor with these exercises.

Breath should be a very strong exhale breath, focusing on contracting the vagina (not the anal sphincter muscle).  Remember, that the breath should fog up your mirror, not “blow out the candles on your birthday cake” or “whistling” type of breath.

Really, any exercise is good to do as long as you focus on this type of breath….a strong exhale in conjunction with a strong pelvic contraction.
