Pretty Happy – Kate Hudson’s New Book

On Wednesday, myself and a few friends went to the Book Passages Author Event of Kate Hudson’s book – Pretty Happy.  If you’re not familiar with the name, she is Goldie Hawn’s daughter.  She was a Golden Globe winner for Best Supporting Actress in the movie “Almost Famous.”  She recently launched an active wear line of clothing called Fabletics and can now add author to her many accolades.  Her book is currently #2 on the NY Times Bestseller’s list.

What’s the book called?  It’s called Pretty Happy: Healthy Ways to Love Your Body.  She seems to be a very well adjusted, down to earth celebrity.  She was adorable!  She came out with her phone in hand, video taping the audience.  She also allowed the audience to take photos and video of her while doing the interview.

She doesn’t claim to have all the answers or the solution to get fit fast or to be happy instantly, but what she did say, that resonated, was try to be a good person.  Try to do your best and not beat yourself up if you don’t hit the impossibly high standards that we as women hold ourselves too.  Sounds familiar!

She spoke about negative self talk, which was sort of refreshing to think that she does it too!  We all do!

As a fitness professional and author of this website, I felt validated!  Meaning, that what I’m saying and doing are on point with her philosophy, and I’m sure countless others out there.  It’s not a new or novel idea to Love Yourself!  We just need to practice it and become more self aware of ourselves and our needs.  If you don’t take care of yourself, if you don’t treat yourself well and make yourself relatively happy, then you won’t be able to do it for others either.

The take away?  Love Yourself!
